Math and Chess was coined by Mr. Frank Ho. In 1995, Frank Ho started a learning centre called Vancouver Ho Math and Chess™ learning Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was a computer consultant with a master's degree in statistics and now a BC certified math teacher.
Frank did not know how to play international chess at all but wanted to teach his son Andrew chess, who at that time was five years old. Andrew was taught to play chess by his father using chess books, computer software, and chess magazines. This mission resulted in Andrew becoming a youngest Canadian chess master at age of 12 and Frank's creation of seven math and chess related workbooks. Three of the workbooks could be checked out from the Vancouver Public Library. Frank also has presented math papers at the math conferences (Click Ho Math and Chess Articles).
How did it all start? In 1995, Frank realized there is a strong correlation between math and chess but no products were on the market that allowed youngester to work on math and chess combined questions. Frank didn't sit around and wait for someone else to create this product. He took the initiative and created the world's first integrated math and chess workbook for elementary students.

Ho Math and Chess™ Vancouver (Kerrisdale location) was founded in 1995 by a Canadian certified teacher Frank Ho with a handful of students. In 2004, Frank started to franchise the global brand name Ho Math and Chess™. Today Ho Math and Chess™ is the world leader in integrated math and chess teaching. Chess is an excellent education tool for teaching math in enhancing problem-solving ability and in improving children’s brainpower. Frank created the world's first math and chess integrated workbook for elementary students and this product has become the flagship product of Ho Math and Chess. Frank has a Master of Science degree and over 20 years of teaching and consulting experience including working as a statistical consultant at the University of British Columbia and University of Utah. Frank presented papers at BC Math Teacher’s conferences and three of his workbooks could be checked out at the BC public libraries. Frank teaches summer program at St. George’s, a private school in Vancouver and teaches lunch chess programs at some public schools.
Vancouver west Ho Math and Chess™is located at Room 4 (Not 6), 2265 West 41st, in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Vancouver is one of the major cities in Canada with population of about 2.5 million and its climate ranges from -5 C degree in the winter to the 35 C degree in the summer.
There are also street meter parking available in front of learning centre. Free chess or math assessment or lesson can be arranged by phoning Frank at 604-263-4321 to make an appointment. We are open 7 days a week and all math courses are offered 7 days a week. The only time we are closed is from December 24th to January 1st. All classes are conducted in English.

2-hour per session and minimum one session per week. Small class size with mixed grades of students but each student is progressed at his or her own speed.
